Doing daily exercises and outdoor sports would help in conditioning the body. Since all applicants need to take a physical exam to assess their strength, eyesight, nimbleness and hearing capabilities. Aspiring applicants are also required to pass a background check. Those people who have acquired records of violating traffic rules, drug convictions, and any other crimes are most likely to be rejected. As early as now, be sure that you stay away from those illegal activities if you want to become a police officer in the future.

Civil Service Assessment

By the time all has been done and your application is ready, you are required to take a civil service assessment. This may be quite easy for some people since there are study guides provided that could help one gain a high score. This is usually administered by the police department you are applying to.

Lie Detector Test

If you want to become a police officer, you have to pass a lie detector test after your physical exam. The interviews will be conducted by the police department officials. While there are quite a number of steps to become a police officer, this seems to be the easiest one for some. If you pass the test, you will be sent immediately to the police academy for training. The training will take for about three months to one year.
